Saudi Arabia signs with Republic of Greece a Memorandum of Understanding on Space Cooperation
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Republic of Greece signed on Monday a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of satellites and their applications.
The memorandum was signed on the side of Saudi Arabia by Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, chief executive officer of Saudi Space Commission (SSC), and from the Greek side, by Mr. Constantinus Fragkugianis, deputy foreign minister, in a meeting held in Riyadh in the presence of the Greek ambassador to Saudi Arabia and the international relations team of the SSC.
Following the signing, the Greek Deputy Foreign Minister expressed his pleasure with the signing, and his aspiration that the memorandum contributes to strengthening cooperation between his country and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the fields of space applications, benefits both countries and extends the scope of mutual cooperation.
For his part, Al-Sheikh expressed his gratitude for reaching the agreement with the Republic of Greece, hoping that it contributes to boosting international relations of the Saudi Space Commission (SSC) that has recently formed its organizational structure, appointed its board of directors (following the approval of Saudi Council of Ministers), and formulated a national space strategy that is due to be filed for the Council of Ministers.
The SSC awaits the approval of the space strategy to commence its programs aimed at accelerating and fostering Saudi Arabia’s endeavors in the field of space manufacturing and economy, under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the chairman of the board of directors.
